Indi and I had a great time in Singapore. Indigo was great on both flights, and arrived ready for action. We went into my Mum's school for the Chinese New Year parade (Indi thought it was fantastic), went to high tea where Indi ate the appropriate Singapore noodles and had a morning at the zoo.
Leaving the Penguin office in Melbourne Friday afternoon to get to the aiport - 38 degrees and sweltering heat. Grid locked traffic - 1.5 hours to the airport, in bumper to bumper, stop /start mode. Jump into the cab and it reeks. A tapestry of rancid smells, both current and past. Look to my window to wind it down - the handle is gone. My clothes will never forget this incident.
As a test of citizen journalism, the big sites (smh.com.au and news.com.au) are "waiting for the QE 2 to arrive tonight", here is the first online picture, maybe in the country, of her arriving for the big event. 6.40 pm, Tuesday night, 20 Feb.
However, now that we share the same hair cut, it's just another person in the world for Indi to see from behind, get excited, then point to and question... 'Da-da?'. Talk about confusing...
We had a big weekend with great nights out both Friday (Simon's Surprise Birthday dinner) and Saturday (Nath's finely planned 30th birthday party), we had a lot of fun at both but find it hard to catch up on the sleep we lose by staying out late. On Sunday while I was cleaning the bathroom (well, that is what i told Cam I was doing, I think I was probably eating, I do that a lot lately) Cam was on Indi duty. It was awfully quiet so I went to see what they were up to. Here is the photo evidence of Cam's fine fathering skills!!!! (Just joking, he is an awesome Dad.) For those who don't know, that white thing Indi is watching is our hand held DVD player.
I had often wondered where Indi got her sleeping style from and clearly it is all her father.
Indigo and Cam were recently hard at work on their laptops. The truth was captured in this image. All of his great "innovations" for work are actually stolen from his daughter's computer documents. He cuddles her in close, distracts her with some "new" footage from You Tube and reads all her marvelous ideas over her shoulder.
The last few weeks there has been a bit of diversification of the blog, with political statements, surfing video clips and various other postings, so today I am bringing the blog back to it's roots with some good old fashioned family photos.
Indigo is now a little run away. What ever direction you are walking she wants to go the opposite direction. She has perfected a little dummy run, where she pretends to follow you and then spins around when she thinks you aren't watching. So walking into Surfers last week she got to ride on her Dads shoulders and she thought it was fantastic.
Indi has been watching her Dad surf for nearly 16 months (well less because her eyes don't really work for the first few weeks) and since learning to walk, our little Miss Independant now lets us know what she thinks on a lot of things. This is her giving her Dad some surf lessons. She started with some positive feedback, a bit of clapping, followed by some serious constructive criticism and directions as to where he should go out.
Happy Friday. Been a slower week on the blog with no new videos - what is going on?? More will be available soon.
We are excited about: > Going to the Gold Coast for a week, even if one Excitable has to work. > Adam Curry's Daily Source Code - I did not really rate this, but it is growing on me. > Catching up with our old friend Dabs on the weekend. (Dabs, it was good to see you). > Prison Break just started again in the US and we are getting our dose via the laptop and ADSL2. > The West Wing. > Indigo has learned how to brush her own hair (below) We are not excited about: > The cafes downstairs competing for our custom. Makes things a little awkward. > Public Bathrooms. > More Quiz shows. > Indigo now thinks her spoon is a brush and that Weetbix makes for cool gel.
