Beckham, Jolie, and an Excitable fight for readers

Thanks to some clever work from Pete at News Digital Media, an Excitable is surfing on the home page of Rupert's news.com.au, vying for readers against the likes of David Beckham and Angelina Jolie. You might recognise the photo from Pete's work at Boomerang last year which featured in a previous post -

    in my defense, i resisted using the photo in the design, but people kept stopping me and saying "are you friends with Cam, he does killer reo's, you should use that photo on news" etc etc - so it wasnt my decision to use the photo. it was the people.

    what no one else knows is that the photo is animated. after 999999 seconds, the little graphic changes to "He doesnt make it" for a split second and then goes back to him on the wave.

    I love news.com.au and read it everyday from o/s.... I was looking at that photo the other day thinking how good it looked.. can't believe it is u! nic

    If this is on there what else has been 'touched up' or 'creatively edited'?

    I now believe nothing I read on the site.

    It does remain, however, one of my favourite fiction-based sites with some very good photoshop work.

    The photo (and my surfing) need no editing...It would be like adding extra brush strokes to the Mona Lisa...
